Born 1951 Mumbai, Yashwant Shirwadkar obtained his Government Diploma in Art (drawing & painting)in 1977. Over the last 33 years he has established himself as a distinguished landscape artist. He has held about 75 solo shows and above 150 shows in India and abroad. He unravels his magic in his representations of the holy city of Benares, Rajasthan, Kashmir and Kerala. In his early days he had also done landscapes of scenic destinations in Kulu, Manali, Goa as well as seascapes in coastal towns.His images are deceptively simple yet they convey waves of tranquility and alternate beauty.There are elaborate details in his paintings. He paints from his memory after he has undertaken the trip. Using earthy colours with a palette knife and shaving blade. He gives a three dimensional effect to his painting.
