Bothe Somnath Ramrao

Bothe Somnath Ramrao

Born in 1982, in a small village called Paithan, District - Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Somnath now lives and works in Pune. He obtained his Diploma in Art from Mumbai University (Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune) and has received several awards throughout his career. His foray into the world of Art began with a fascination for nature and landscapes. As most of his infancy was spent in his birthplace, he has a very strong relationship with his native village and rural life. "A deep rooted respect for nature and humility is the inspiration for my painting." says Somnath. Then education and exposure to an urban life created fresh sensitivities and inspirations, an appreciation of new environments and different cultures all of which are reflected in his recent works. The fusion of rainy scenes and historical locations in cities and villages constitute the main theme of the bulk of his paintings. His paintings are full of colour,  vibrant yet subtle and nostalgic at the same time a paradox which resonates very well with the viewer. As his oeuvre evolves, painting becomes a natural and spontaneous medium of expression for the artist, a daily ritual without which his life is incomplete.
